Queen Beans takes their passion for coffee and positive attitude to the MFEE’s Amazing Fundracer. Jodie Dawson and Kristine Ellis-Petrik are excited to support the Montclair community.

“Since we have two children in Montclair schools, we have been aware of and involved with MFEE for years,” said Kristine Ellis-Petrik. The Java Love ladies have  volunteered in many events, but they never thought would be participants in the race. That said, they are geared up and ready to go!

Jodie got involved in the MFEE Amazing Fundracer first, and then told Kristine about it.

“The conversation went something like this: “You know that race fundraiser for MFEE? The one that is like the Amazing Race? Well, we are going to do it this year… thought you should know,” said Kristine.

Both Jodie and Kristine are proud residents and business owners in Montclair. They moved to Montclair ten years ago. Montclair appealed to them because of the diverse and abundant community, as well as the amazing school system. It seemed a great fit for both of their kids.

They then had opportunity to bring their business, Java Love Coffee Roasting Company, to their new home town. They originally started Java Love in the Catskills of New York. The pair was thrilled to share their love and great artisanal coffee with Montclair neighbors.

The Queen Beans are expecting fun, community support and possibly an injury or two from the Amazing Fundracer. Ellis-Petrik is apparently competitive, and usually does some sort of physical damage to herself in situations like this. They are hoping some sort of medically trained team is also competing.

The Queen Beans are preparing with a couple espresso shots before the race. They hope MFEE can use the fundraiser to further benefit their children.

“While we can provide a supportive and loving home for our kids, their teachers and school life are vital to shaping and helping prepare them for their future,” said Ellis-Petrik.

“We have supported MFEE for years and look forward to embarrassing ourselves in the name of Love,” Ellis-Petrik added. The Queen Beans embody the true Montclair community spirit.
