Outpost offers volunteer opportunities with Soup Kitchen Workdays .
Although the concerts at Outpost in the Burbs have stopped for this season and won’t pick up until September, there are still ways to get involved with the organization! Throughout the year, Outpost hosts community service opportunities, and members of the community have a chance to get involved in their next Soup Kitchen Workdays coming up on Saturday, June 20.
According to the Outpost in the Burbs website, outpostintheburbs.org, “Building community is what the Outpost is all about, and the community service events we host are an integral part of who we are. The Outpost currently partners with five service organizations to bridge each of us to our community. We welcome new volunteers for any and all levels of participation. Please join us for a volunteer day that fits your passion and schedule: Habitat for Humanity, Community Foodbank of New Jersey, Soup Kitchen Workdays, Human Needs Pantry.”
All of the Soup Kitchen Workdays take place on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in East Orange. Currently, the schedule is the third Saturday of every month, with the upcoming date being June 20.
Members of the community are encouraged to come out and support Outpost in their effort to enhance the community! However, space is limited to six or seven volunteers each workday, so be sure to email Mary McGee as soon as possible. According to the Outpost website, volunteers will carpool to East Orange from the First Congregational Church parking lot at 9:00 a.m. and return at approximately 2:00 p.m.
If you want additional information or have an idea for a new community service project call Steve at 973-744-6560 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
