Styx is set to rock the stage.

Taking the Wellmont stage on Sunday, Nov. 16 is Styx, an extremely popular rock band originally from Chicago. Within their genre, Styx is best known for combining style of pop rock with the intensity of the rock guitar, also through powerful ballads and elements of musical theater.

Some of their most well-known songs include “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Mr. Roboto” and “Don’t Let It End.” They also have four consecutive albums that reached the multi-platinum level by the RIAA, and they have 16 singles that reached the Top 40 chart in the United States.

The band reached extreme popularity in the 1980’s, but broke up to pursue solo careers after their big hits. They had a reunion in 1995, releasing their album Return to Paradise, which was the first gold album for Styx’s new record company, CMC. Styx broke up again briefly in 1999 due to personality conflicts and health concerns, but soon reconnected and made their first new studio album in almost a decade, Brave New World.

Now, they are back on the road since this past summer in a new touring package called Soundtrack of Summer, with Foreigner and ex-Eagle Don Felder.
