This summer, the Montclair Art Museum is offering a ton of fun activities for people of all ages to participate in, so don’t miss out! All events will be taking place at the museum located on 3 South Mountain Avenue in Montclair.

On the first Friday of the month, June 5, the museum is having its Free First Friday. This means free admission inside for the public during gallery hours, which occur from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Their Facebook sign-up page states, “Join us for informal 30-minute gallery talks that provide an in-depth examination of one to two works of art on view in the galleries. Tours are led by MAM educators and docents.” The Free Fridays will also continue throughout the summer on every first Friday of the month, so if you can’t make this one, you can always catch another. For more information on the event you can visit their Facebook page, linked above. If you’re interested in signing up for museum membership, head over to the museum website at montclairartmuseum.org.

The 10th Anniversary Pictures Concert will be held at the museum this Sunday, June 7. The event states, “This annual spring event is a unique concert experience as New Jersey students explore the intersection of music and visual art. For the last decade, NJ students have been asked to compose music inspired by works of art found in the MAM collections. This year’s selected artwork is Chaim Gross’ Three Acrobats (1928). Guest musicians perform pieces written by students, and student honorees discuss their art-inspired music in a pre-concert talk. This program is produced by the New Jersey Arts Collective.”

There will be a pre-concert panel discussion at 2:15 p.m., and the concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for museum members, seniors and students with I.D., and $15 for non-members. You can buy tickets online at montclairartmuseum.org. For more information, visit their Facebook sign-up page.

On Wednesday, June 10th, the museum will be holding a Park Bench event for families with children to enjoy. It will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the event describes, “Parents with young children will enjoy MAM Park Bench, a program that introduces children to the Museum and serves as an artistic social outing. Get acquainted with other parents and young children, work on fun art projects, and take a guided tour of the Museum. Storytelling provided in the galleries courtesy of the Montclair Public Library. This program is led by Angela Frasco and addresses a new theme each month.” The event is held on every second Wednesday of the month, and this upcoming theme is cityscapes. Tickets are $18 per family and $6 for family-level members and above, and you can get them online here.

Whether you’re an art enthusiast, music lover or have some youngsters at home, the Montclair Art Museum has great, inexpensive activities for everyone to enjoy this summer. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
