Thank You Scientist started at MSU and opening at the Wellmont.
Thank You Scientist, a band started at Montclair State University, will be taking the stage at the Wellmont stage on Thursday, Sept. 25 to open for internationally-renowned band Coheed and Cambria on their Neverender Tour. Be sure to come out and see this band that started from a local music program.
Lead singer of Coheed and Cambria, Claudio Sanchez, has launched his own record label, “Evil Ink Records” and Thank You Scientist is his first signed band. Thank You Scientist is described as a “young, experimental progressive rock group.” According to a press release by the band, “the newly formed label, distributed by INgrooves, will be releasing a fully remixed and remastered version of the band’s 2012 debut full-length record, Maps of Non-Existent Places, on September 30th, in time for their run with Coheed and Cambria’s ‘Neverender:IKSSE3 Tour.'”
Thank You Scientist was born out of the music program at Montclair State University. According to the release, “for the uninitiated, Thank You Scientist was forged from the music program at Montclair State University in New Jersey when guitarist Tom Monda met saxophonist Ellis Jasenovic and trumpeter Andrew Digrius. The three bonded over their love for Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Beatles and Harry Nilsson. Those influences would become the seeds for what Thank You Scientist would evolve into today.”
