Lauren Fox and a Jazzy Comic Reprise

Cabaret artist Lauren Fox to embody Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen on Friday, Nov. 15 at Outpost in the Burbs. Also returning is singer-songwriter/multitalent Kenny White.

Lauren Fox is one foxy lady.

Seasoned fans and first-time listeners alike adore acclaimed New York City-based studio musician, television jingle and film score composer and singer-songwriter Kenny White so much during October’ss Outpost event that Outpost wants him back soon, and next Friday night is another chance to see him. Audiences will get another chance to hear White’s famous piano and singing skills, along with his banter that is impossible not to instantly charm anyone.

At his last appearance at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair, White wowed a completely- filled sanctuary into standing ovation with numbers such as “She’s Coming on Saturday,” “In My Recurring Dream,” “Comfort in the Static” and “Shoot the Moon.” He opened for an equally acclaimed country/rock singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb that night, but this time his headliner will be a little something on a different vein.

Lauren Fox is a cabaret singer who is famous for performing cover tunes of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Oddly enough, she has a beautiful, soulful singing voice nearly akin to Mitchell herself. For those who find that last statement too good to be true, just give “Chelsea Hotel” and “All I Want” a good listen.

With all of that being said, with the holiday season rolling around in just a few weeks, a very jazzy show in mid-November is more than bound to help everyone get a jump start into getting into the holiday spirit. With temperatures now dipping into the 40’s and 30’s, it is a good idea to come out and take in the warmth not only given by the performers and friendly, respectful audiences, but also all of the volunteers who go to good lengths to make everyone happy. From baked goods to good company, there will not be one heart of cold stone leaving the church.

It is also highly encouraged that attendees give that same warmth in return to the rest of the community, especially since Outpost will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Human Needs Food Pantry, because with Thanksgiving drawing close no one should ever have to go hungry.

Lauren Fox’s tickets can be purchased at: Keil’s Pharmacy, Studio042 Super Business Printer, www.ticketleap.com and at the door. Just remember that tickets are $28 in advance, and $32 at the door and day of the show. As always, doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Parking for Lauren Fox is available in the lot of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair, located on 67 Church Street. For those who wish to grab a bite to eat before the show, the following are highly recommended:

A variety of ethnic eateries, such as Mesob Ethiopian (located on the corner of Bloomfield Avenue and North Fullerton Avenue), and Nori Japanese restaurant (located on Bloomfield Avenue). For quick bites and cafe-style needs, there are the Turkish Simit Bakery and the French Le Petit Parisien, both on Church Street. For a mix of ethnic and regular American-style dining, Manny’s Diner is located right next to Le Petit. As for where to eat after the show, not many places are open after hours, except for the Office Beer Bar and Grill on Bloomfield Avenue and Manny’s.

Be sure to come see the one and only foxy lady, Lauren Fox and the other greats that Outpost has to offer.
