Broadway Box for the Summer

Since Broadway hits are usually expensive, you can try tying in local eateries, transportation and discounted tickets, for a bargain with Broadway Box!

Broadway Box at a great price!

Now that the nice weather is here to stay, it’s time to plan your summer vacations and the perfect method of relaxation. Although the city is not too far away, most people don’t take advantage of what it has to offer due to inconvenience or price. However, there are ways to see that Tony-winner you’ve always dreamed of, without breaking the bank, simply use Broadway Box.

Ticket discounts. There so many ways to get tickets that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, if you know where to look. The easiest place to go is Broadway Box. At broadwaybox.com, you can search for discounted tickets for some of the most popular Broadway hits! You can see Wicked, Cinderella or even Newsies at sometimes half the price!

Most people turn down online discounts for the fear of terrible seating. However, if you know where to look, you can score great seats at a great price! Using Broadway Box, I was able to see Phantom of the Opera this past week for only $50. My Broadway Box seats were up in the mezzanine, the balcony seats above the ground level, yet these seats were perfect. From that level, you can see what’s happening on the entire stage from a bird’s-eye view, which is perfect for a show like Phantom that has a large ensemble and huge dance numbers.

Aside from Broadway Box, there are other great ways to get tickets for a decent price. To make tickets more affordable to students and other theatregoers on a budget, many Broadway shows have implemented rush, lottery and standing-room-only policies. Rush and seating-room-only tickets are sold on the day of the performance, usually as soon as the box office opens. Seat location varies with different shows, from front row to rear mezzanine. These tickets are sold at very cheap prices, and you can get amazing seats! Just be prepared to stand in line.

Transportation. Getting into the city from Montclair is one of the easiest things to do, especially if you’re not a fan of driving in the Big Apple. The Montclair Boontoon Train Line runs through town and stops at multiple locations, no matter where you’re located. There are two stops just on the campus of Montclair State University, one of them right next to the Red Hawk Deck, where visitors can park for an hourly rate. Throw a few dollars into the meter, grab a round-trip ticket for $14.50 and you’ll be in the city in an hour! Get off at New York Penn Station and you are only a few blocks walk from the busiest places in the city.

Don’t like the train? The NJ Transit buses make stops all over town as well, which you can also take directly into the heart of the action. For the train or bus schedules, just hop online to njtransit.com and search the most convenient time for you to leave! NJ Transit even offers group rates or monthly passes if you want to go a few times throughout the summer. Leave your keys behind and take advantage of the public transportation at your back door to get in on the fun!

Dinner time. One of the most misleading things about going into the city is finding a cheap place to eat lunch or dinner. Don’t be mislead by the giant Chevy’s, Applebees and other chain restaurants. Although in town they might offer low-price dinner options, they tend to be extremely overpriced in the city. Opt to take a walk down the avenue and stop at the smaller venues! Grab a slice of pizza and some wings and break that $10 bill instead of breaking the bank on a much larger check.

An even easier way to save money is to just eat locally! Before you hop on the train, stroll through Watchung Plaza before getting on the train for an amazing dinner without the city prices. La Couronne offers delicious Italian cuisine that is sure to suit the needs of even the pickiest of eaters. If you’re in the mood for something different, try Sushi Koshi for some great Japanese and a sushi bar.

Trips to Broadway don’t have to break the bank. Take the time to plan out your trip and search for cheap tickets on Broadway Box, and you can see the latest hits without drilling into your bank account. Tie in local transportation options and eateries and you can have the perfect night out on the town!
