Thanks to Diamond Cycle’s video, they can report their theft in broad daylight!
At 3:42 PM on Tues. Mar. 8, 2017, a 25 year old male walked into Diamond Cycle in Montclair and rode off on another customer’s $3,750.00 Cannondale mountain bike. Unfortunately for the thief, as so often happens when idiots act before thinking he failed to notice the recently installed HD video cameras.
The video clearly shows the 25 year old, tall African-American male sporting long dreadlocks with two strands of dread tied in the back, a full stubble style beard with a soul patch, blue-green sunglasses, blue jeans with multiple torn/worn areas on both legs, black belt, two-tone gray fingerless gloves, gray Nike sneakers with blue laces and a hooded navy blue sweatshirt emblazoned with the text “ Ain’t No Talk” on both the back and front. He is right-handed, uses a brown bi-fold leather wallet. He has a black and gray backpack with a yellow diamond shaped logo, plays basketball and carries his own Spalding NBA dark-brown basketball with him.
The thief rode the bike out the back door of the shop on this bike.
Craig Cornell, the Owner of Diamond Cycle is offering a $250.00 reward for any information leading to the recovery, arrest and conviction of the idiot who stole the bicycle. The Cannondale Scalpel 29er 4 Mountain bike was gray with yellow accents. Serial Number: KM67618.
Lt. David O’Dowd, Detective Bureau Commander with the Montclair Police Department requests that anyone with information regarding this theft should contact Detective Joe Anderson at 973-509-4706.
Editor’s note: The Montclair Dispatch is proud to have been of assistance to Diamond Cycle in converting their surveillance video into the usable format seen here
