Pride Fun Run, showing off how proud we are to be called Mounties.

As a way to celebrate the Mountie Pride athletic tradition, the first ever Mountie Pride Fun Run is coming to Montclair on Sept. 22 from 4-7 p.m. at Woodman Field. The Montclair Pride Fun Run is an event that was put together by the Montclair High School – School Action Team and True Blue Spirit, and will be co-hosted by the Montclair High School – School Action Team and the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence.

Proceeds from the Montclair Pride Fun Run will go towards True Blue Spirit, an athletic improvement initiative developed by the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence.

True Blue Spirit launched in 2002 and have become nationally recognized and respected. According to the Montclair Public School News, True Blue Spirit works hard to help and support athletics in Montclair schools. They have worked on projects such as the renovation of the Furlong Field House.

Athletics have brought the community of Montclair together for years. They instill a sense of pride in the town and bring people closer to one another. The Montclair Pride Fun Run is a way to keep that spirit alive and support athletics in Montclair schools.

The run includes a one mile walk/run and a five-kilometer “Pride Fun Run” through the streets of Montclair, starting near Essex Avenue. Near the starting line is also the Community Pavilion, where various booster clubs and Montclair High School associated teams or clubs will be able to promote their activities. Additionally in the Community Pavilion will be local businesses to showcase their own missions, in order to show the support of the surrounding community.

There are many sponsorship opportunities for businesses, ranging from $250-1000. Participants can choose from three levels of sponsorship, including sprint, stride and job sponsor. Each level includes various perks for the sponsors, ranging from names on signage or T-shirts and registration fees waived for a certain amount of runners. For more information or to get involved in being a sponsor, contract the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence office at 973-509-4021 or at info@mfee.org.
