The 150th Commencement Ceremony of Montclair High School was held the evening of June 22nd, 2017.
The Montclair High School class of 2017 graduated on a warm and sunny evening in front of approximately 2,000 proud parents, siblings, family, and friends. At this outdoor event held in the MHS Amphitheatre for the 150th commencement ceremony, 496 graduates’ names were called. Julianna Wittmann, Student Coalition PResident gave the welcoming speech to the audience and graduates. The commencement address was given by Benilde Little, a Montclair resident herself and well-known author. Following Little, Class President Cristi Kennedy made a speech reflecting on her four years at MHS with her fellow graduates. Following the ceremony, all graduates who chose to partake in Project Graduation headed out to an unknown location, first riding around the town of Montclair on school busses, escorted by Montclair Police, Fire, and Ambulance Units, a beloved tradition for Montclair High School graduates. Their ultimate location was the Liberty Science Center.
